AI marketing jobs mostly keep familiar titles: product marketing manager, growth marketer, content lead, developer advocate. What changes is the product you sell and the habits the ads expect. On Tokn, as of 27 October 2026, we count 227 marketing and content jobs at AI companies: 63 in Europe and 164 in North America. Only 24 of them have "AI", "AEO", "GEO" or "agents" in the title.
This article covers marketing at AI companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, Lovable or Mistral AI. For the wider map, see the eight paths into AI; for every role that doesn't need code, see AI jobs without a technical background.
In short
- Tokn lists 227 marketing and content jobs at AI companies as of 27 October 2026 (63 Europe, 164 North America). Product marketing leads in North America; growth and generalist roles lead in Europe.
- The genuinely new jobs are AI search visibility (AEO/GEO), running the "AI transformation" of marketing teams, and developer relations for AI APIs. "AI Marketing Strategist" doesn't appear as a title.
- North American posted base bands have a median of $200k–$250k, or $159k–$206k without OpenAI and Anthropic.
- These companies hire experienced marketers first: 90 of 164 North American roles are lead level, and only 15 of 227 roles are junior or internships.
Two kinds of "AI marketing job"
The first kind is a marketing job at a company that builds AI: a specific market with its own employers, cities and pay, and the one this article measures. The second is any marketing job that expects you to use AI, and it is now the norm. Indeed Hiring Lab found that AI mentions in US marketing postings grew from 8.4% at the start of 2025 to 14.9% by the end of December 2025. In HubSpot's 2026 State of Marketing, a vendor survey of 1,500+ marketers, 86.4% said their team uses AI in at least a few areas.
Which AI marketing jobs are open?
Product marketing leads in North America; growth and generalist roles lead in Europe. The split on Tokn as of 27 October 2026, by title:

| Product marketing | 8 (6) | 33 (16) | Mistral AI, Synthesia, Anthropic, OpenAI, Perplexity, Cursor |
| Growth, performance & lifecycle | 13 (7) | 22 (10) | Lovable, DeepL, ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Cursor |
| Content, social & SEO | 9 (7) | 21 (10) | Doctolib, Synthesia, Harvey, Legora, OpenAI |
| Communications & PR | 3 (2) | 20 (4) | Mostly Anthropic, OpenAI, Perplexity |
| Field & event marketing | 5 (4) | 15 (12) | Mistral AI, Cursor, Glean, Harvey |
| Developer relations & advocacy | 4 (4) | 11 (9) | ElevenLabs, Mistral AI, Anthropic, Databricks |
| Generalist & leadership | 14 (11) | 9 (8) | Head of, VP and regional marketing roles |
| Other (partner, brand, community, demand gen) | 7 | 33 | Includes 7 Anthropic data-centre community roles |
Cells under 10 jobs are illustrations. North American counts are a snapshot: that section of Tokn went live on 26 October.
Product marketing owns positioning, messaging and launches; our AI product manager guide explains how it differs from product management. Growth roles run paid, organic and lifecycle channels; Lovable's Performance Marketer ads (paid search, paid social) asked for someone "Automation-led. You don't do by hand what a script or an agent could do." Developer relations is the technical path. Synthesia's Staff/Principal Developer Advocate ad wanted someone "comfortable writing code, working with APIs and SDKs, and building demo apps yourself".
The genuinely new roles: AI search, AI transformation, devrel for AI APIs
Three kinds of job are new. They are still a small share: 24 of 227 titles.
- AI search visibility (AEO/GEO). Getting a brand cited by AI assistants. Cognition advertised "SEO & AEO", Databricks a "Principal Brand Content & AI Search Visibility" role, Doctolib a "Workingstudent B2C SEO & AI Search" in Berlin. OpenAI's Growth Marketing Manager, Web & Organic ad listed "SEO, content, and generative engine optimization (GEO)". In Salesforce's State of Marketing (4,450 marketers surveyed in late 2025), 88% said they optimise for AI-driven search.
- AI transformation of marketing teams. Someone who builds the agents and automations the marketing team uses. Examples: Stripe's "Forward Deployed AI Accelerator, Marketing" ("you build agents, automations, and tools fluently"), Databricks' "Director, Marketing Strategy and AI Transformation" and Lovable's "Member of Technical Staff, Applied AI (Marketing)". It's a cousin of the AI automation jobs other teams hire for.
- Developer relations for AI APIs. Mistral AI advertised a VP of global devrel, and Anthropic, Databricks, ElevenLabs, Gladia and Modal all posted devrel roles.
What the job ads actually ask for
Classic marketing craft plus a daily AI habit; specific AI tools are rarely named. Share of ads mentioning each term (counts are minimums; Tokn stores shortened texts):
| Term | Europe (63 ads) | North America (164 ads) |
|---|---|---|
| Launch / go-to-market | 48% | 48% |
| B2B / enterprise | 37% | 47% |
| Events | 35% | 34% |
| Messaging / positioning | 25% | 30% |
| Developers / API / SDK | 25% | 23% |
| Agents / automation | 22% | 18% |
"Claude" and "ChatGPT" appear in a few ads, but mostly as the employer's own product, so we don't count them as tools asked for. Named tools are classic: HubSpot, Salesforce and Marketo for lifecycle and demand gen, SQL and BI tools for growth. What the ads want instead is a working habit. Lines from ads live on Tokn as of 27 October:
- Doctrine, Growth Marketing (Germany): "AI is your copilot: this role runs 100% with AI, campaign production, copywriting, analysis, automation."
- Synthesia, SEO Manager: "AI-native operator. You do the work in Claude or your AI tool of choice."
- Perplexity, Solutions Product Marketing Manager: "Advanced proficiency using AI tools to drive marketing outcomes."
AI literacy is among LinkedIn's 10 fastest-growing marketing skills in the US for 2026, and Salesforce's respondents named data analysis and AI tool management as the two most important skills. For the tools across all AI roles, see the tools AI job postings ask for.
Who hires marketers at AI companies, and where
In North America, OpenAI and Anthropic dominate. In Europe, Lovable does.
North America (164 jobs). OpenAI (31) and Anthropic (30) make up 61 roles, or 37% of the set. Then Harvey (13), Perplexity (12), Legora (9), Glean, Cognition and Cursor (8 each), and Databricks (7). San Francisco holds 115 roles and New York 18. Browse AI marketing jobs in North America.
Europe (63 jobs). Lovable alone posts 13 (21%), in London and Stockholm. Then Mistral AI, ElevenLabs and Synthesia (5 each), and Doctrine, OpenAI, H Company and Artefact (3 each). London has 24 roles, Paris 17, Stockholm 7. Of the 8 fully remote European roles, most are at ElevenLabs. Browse marketing jobs at AI companies in Europe.
How much do AI marketing jobs pay?
In North America, the median posted base band is $200k–$250k a year, or $159k–$206k without OpenAI and Anthropic. In Europe, too few ads show pay for a statistic.
North America, posted bands, USD per year, base pay (equity excluded), as of 27 October 2026:
| Group | Ads with a band | Median band |
|---|---|---|
| All companies | 138 | $200,000 – $250,000 |
| Excluding OpenAI and Anthropic | 78 | $159,000 – $206,000 |
| OpenAI | 31 | $239,000 – $266,000 |
| Anthropic | 29 | $265,000 – $320,000 |
| Product marketing (all companies) | 29 | $200,000 – $245,000 |
For a benchmark, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median wage of marketing managers across all industries at $166,790 (May 2025). AI companies other than OpenAI and Anthropic sit close to it.
Europe: Tokn read a salary on only 7 of 63 ads, in three currencies. Examples, not a statistic:
- Synthesia, Head of Product Marketing, London: £140k – £180k
- Synthesia, Principal Product Marketing Manager, London: £100k – £130k
- LangChain, Regional Demand Generation Marketer, London: £95k – £125k
- LogoAI, Growth Marketing Manager, remote: €70k – €90k
- Dust, Field Marketing Specialist, Paris: €50k – €65k

How to get into marketing at an AI company
AI companies mostly hire senior: 90 of 164 North American roles are lead level, and ads that state experience ask for a median of 7 years in North America (113 ads) and 5 in Europe (23 ads).
Only 15 of 227 roles are junior or internships (7 in Europe, 8 in North America), including internships at Artefact, Doctolib, Back Market, Together AI and Snowflake, a growth marketing role at Doctrine in France, and an Associate Product Marketing Manager role at Perplexity.
The pressure on junior roles is real. On 29 September 2026, Gartner predicted, as reported by Marketing Dive, that by 2030 AI will allow a majority of high-performing marketing teams to eliminate traditional entry-level roles. It's a prediction, and Gartner itself warns against cutting junior talent. Of the 1,303 marketing leaders it surveyed, 18% had cut some roles due to AI or automation and 16% had created new ones.
What we think works, given what the ads ask:
- Use the product daily and know it better than other applicants.
- Show AI-assisted work in public: a campaign, an SEO test, a lifecycle flow you automated. Here is how to build an AI portfolio.
- Pick a lane. Positioning for product marketing, SQL and experiments for growth, code and demos for devrel.

FAQ
What are AI marketing jobs?
The term covers two things: marketing jobs at companies that build AI, and marketing jobs anywhere that use AI tools. At AI companies, the titles are familiar (product marketing manager, growth marketer, developer advocate, content lead). Few titles are new.
Do you need a technical background to work in marketing at an AI company?
Not for most roles. Product marketing, growth, content, comms and events ask for marketing craft and comfort with AI tools. Developer relations is the exception: ads like Synthesia's ask you to write code and build demo apps with APIs and SDKs.
How much does a product marketing manager at an AI company earn?
In North America, product marketing ads on Tokn have a median posted base band of $200k–$245k (29 ads, all companies). In London, Synthesia posted £100k–£130k for a Principal Product Marketing Manager and £140k–£180k for a Head of Product Marketing; those are examples, not a European average.
What is AEO or GEO, and is AI search a real job?
AEO (answer engine optimisation) and GEO (generative engine optimisation) mean getting your brand cited in answers from AI assistants. It's real but small: Cognition, Databricks, Doctolib and OpenAI advertised roles or duties under that name.
Are there entry-level AI marketing jobs?
A few: 15 of 227 roles on Tokn as of 27 October 2026, mostly internships at companies such as Artefact, Doctolib, Back Market, Together AI and Snowflake. Perplexity also advertised an Associate Product Marketing Manager role.
